Belarusian Railways develops cooperation with Russian ports

August 6, Minsk. The Belarusian Railway develops cooperation with Russian ports. This was stated by the head of the Belarusian Railways Vladimir Morozov, BelTA learned from the press center of the Belarusian railway.

"In the current realities, our task is to actively promote the products of Belarusian enterprises to the markets of Russia, Kazakhstan and, in general, to the markets of the EAEU countries. First of all, Russian ports, such as Astrakhan, Vostochny, Vladivostok, Novorossiysk, Yeisk, the ports of Kavkaz, Olya and Rostov. Work is also underway to organize the transportation of Belarusian foreign trade cargo in the direction of the ports of the North-Western region of Russia," Vladimir Morozov said.

According to the results of 6 months of 2022, almost 900 thousand tons of cargo were transported through the seaport of St. Petersburg - 1.7 times more than in the same period of 2021. Through the port of Ust-Luga - about 502 thousand tons, or 108%. The work of the Belarusian Railway on cooperation with the main ports of Russia will be continued.

One of the strategic directions for the export of Belarusian enterprises' products in containers is China and, in general, the countries of the Asian region. In order to increase the cargo flow, the Belarusian Railways, together with transport companies, provides the organization and development of a regular container service for the delivery of products of Belarusian business entities to the Chinese market . Projects have been implemented to ship products of the woodworking industry, pulp, meat and dairy products, granulated sugar, and powdered milk. Today, the share of China in the total volume of transported Belarusian foreign trade cargo is 49%.

Also, the Belarusian Railways pays great attention to the development of digitalization and information support of goods along the entire route, the basis of which is the automated system "Electronic Transportation".
