August 22, MINSK . The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Tomsk Region signed a cooperation agreement on exchange trading. The signing ceremony took place during a BUCE delegation's visit to Tomsk for a seminar on the use of exchange instruments in export-import transactions between Belarusian and Russian business entities in the Tomsk Region, the exchange's press service told BELTA.

The agreement outlines key areas of cooperation between the parties, priority tasks, and areas of responsibility. Specifically, in addition to exchanging information and organizing joint online and offline events for Tomsk Region businesses, BUCE and the regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry intend to combine efforts to attract Tomsk producers to the Belarusian exchange. The primary focus will be on small and medium-sized businesses producing goods in demand on the Belarusian market. This primarily concerns non-ferrous metallurgy, chemicals, and electrical products.

The expanded presence of Tomsk Region industrial enterprises in BUCE exchange trading is expected to not only positively impact trade between Belarus and this Russian region but also facilitate mutual trade by establishing direct contacts between producers and consumers. Furthermore, additional opportunities will open up for deepening industrial cooperation and enhancing interactions on import substitution. Currently, companies from Tomsk Region accredited at BUCE participate in trading exclusively as buyers of sawn

timber. Therefore, another promising area for the development of bilateral exchange trading will be the expansion of the Belarusian EXPORT range, including such items as powdered MILK , butter , amino acids, and beef . The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange was established in 2004. The first trades took place in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises in exporting their products and to help foreign companies enter the Belarusian market. The exchange trades a wide range of metal, timber, agricultural , industrial, and consumer goods.
