June 26, Minsk. Belarus is not threatened by a food crisis. This was stated on the air of the First National Channel of the Belarusian Radio by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Igor Brylo, BelTA informs.
“It’s strange for us to hear this. And, believe me, it’s not even worth thinking about it in our country in the near future,” said Igor Brylo. “There is an indicator, for example, of the level of self-sufficiency per person. the level of self-sufficiency in milk, from which all dairy products are made, and there are more than 1.5 thousand of them, is 256%. That is, we produce more than 2.5 times more dairy products than we consume in general. The level of self-sufficiency in meat is - 135%, for eggs - 126%, for vegetables, potatoes - more than 100%. But we will increase. We have increased the volumes, including this year's crops of both vegetable crops and potatoes."
Let it be better to have a little reserve, the minister stated. “There are problems with fruit and berry crops. We can supply our domestic market somewhere around 70%. But this was typical of Belarus. "I mean varieties for industrial cultivation, let's say. Cherry, gourds. But, believe me, we are now doing everything to increase the volume of these crops in the country. It is clear that oranges and tangerines will not grow in our country. But what As for grapes, cherries, apples, pears, gourds, we can already seriously increase the production of these crops," he added.
