August 2, MINSK . Retail workers are overcoming sanctions-related challenges with honor, and stores offer a wide range of goods. This was announced by Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Alexei Bogdanov at a ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Belarusian trade authorities, which took place at the Upper City Concert Hall in Minsk, BELTA reports.

The industry employs more than 600,000 people—almost 15% of the country's working population. Awards were presented to the best representatives of the industry in each region to mark this significant anniversary. Thanks to the work of these professionals, high standards of retail service are ensured.

"We are fulfilling the tasks we face with honor, despite the challenging geopolitical situation," noted Alexey Bogdanov. "The senseless sanctions some countries are imposing against us and the difficulties we are experiencing are being overcome with honor. Thank you very much. We haven't seen any gaps in our shelves during this difficult time, nor do we see any today. On the contrary, videos are appearing in the media, on TIKTOK, and other social media, where foreign guests marvel at how much MILK, MEAT, and everything else Belarusians have. This is truly remarkable."

The minister emphasized that today's successes are the work of more than one generation. Every resident encounters retail workers daily. It's important to thank the people who provide Belarusians with comfort and a prosperous life, those who invest their energy, heart, and love in this difficult work.

"Belarusian trade is showing positive results. We've seen growth across virtually every indicator in the first half of the year. Specifically, retail turnover in the country increased by 11.5%. Infrastructure is also developing. We're not experiencing stagnation. Overall, the number of retail outlets has increased by more than 1,200—an increase of almost 1%. In total, there are over 129,000 retail outlets operating in the country. There are nearly 30,000 online stores, and the share of online retail has increased significantly in the first half of the year, reaching approximately 8%," said Alexey Bogdanov.

Another significant area is the food service industry . There are 25,500 restaurants, cafes, and canteens in the country. "The social standard per 1,000 people is being met, and we're even exceeding it. We're celebrating the centenary of Belarusian trade with strong figures and indicators," noted Alexey Bogdanov. "When we come to the store, we see wide shelves with a wide selection. Both the width and depth of the product range are being met, as are price stability. Inflation targets are being met within the established parameters."

The industry's best workers were honored at the Upper Town Concert Hall. A concert program was prepared for the guests. More than 150 people were awarded certificates of honor, letters of gratitude, and badges from the Minsk City Executive Committee, the Minsk City Council of Deputies, and the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of the Republic of Belarus , as well as commemorative medals "100 Years of the Belarusian Government."
