Exchange trade turnover between Belarus and Russia increased 3.8 times

According to the results of the first quarter of 2024 , the amount of exchange transactions between business entities of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation increased 3.8 times to $199.3 million. Moreover, in contrast to the same period last year, when imports from RUSSIA significantly exceeded exports , this year for Belarus, the balance was positive in the amount of $86.1 million, a BELTA correspondent was told in the press service of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE).

“The growth of Belarusian-Russian exchange trade turnover and changes in its structure are largely associated with the intensification of mutual trade in agricultural products. Now its share in the total volume of transactions between residents of Russia and Belarus is 66%. Metal products are in second place with a share of 18%. , in the third - forest products with a share of 7%. In terms of specific commodity items, the greatest demand among Russian bidders was Belarusian butter , MILK powder , cheeses , lumber and gas silicate blocks, while Belarusian companies mainly bought coal, black and non-ferrous rolled metal, grain and lubricants. In addition, trade in industrial and consumer goods developed dynamically. Orders for purchase and sale were regularly placed by both the Russian and Belarusian sides. As a result, compared to January - March 2023, the amount of transactions in this segment of the exchange market increased almost 3 times - to $6.7 million," the exchange's press service said.

According to BUCE, today 3,756 residents of the Russian Federation, including six brokers, are accredited on the exchange platform. Thus, since the beginning of the year, 146 new bidders from Russia have come to BUCE.
