MINSK . The first deal for the supply of powdered
MILK to Syria was concluded at the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange. The purchase volume was 100 tons, the exchange's press service told BELTA.
The seller was a leading dairy processing plant in the Vitebsk region, and the buyer was an importer and distributor of food products from the Syrian province of Idlib, accredited at the BUCE in late April. Thus, another country from the MENA region, as the Middle
East and North Africa are known, has begun using the exchange to trade with Belarusian dairy companies.
According to the BUCE press service, in addition to Syria, the pool of Middle Eastern buyers of domestic dairy products on the exchange also includes countries such as Jordan, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and
Saudi Arabia .
"In the first four months of this year, dairy product
exports on the exchange reached $205 million, a 29% increase compared to the same period last year. Powdered milk is the leading seller , accounting for 61% of total
EXPORT transactions," the exchange's press service reported. "The five largest buyers of Belarusian dairy products on the exchange include companies from
RUSSIA, Germany, Poland, Kazakhstan, and Singapore. Together, they account for approximately 90% of dairy product purchases at exchange trades."
BUCE also continues to diversify its sales markets by attracting importers from new countries to the exchange's electronic platform. This year, companies from Indonesia, Myanmar, and Senegal joined the BUCE dairy trades. A Syrian buyer was accredited with the assistance of a Belarusian exporting company.
Currently, 8,334 non-resident companies from 81 countries are accredited at BUCE, 389 of which became participants in exchange trading in 2025.
