Belarusian enterprises increased purchases of agricultural products at BUCE by 1.5 times

May 31, MINSK. In January-April, enterprises of the agro-industrial complex purchased agricultural products at the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange for a total amount of Br364.4 million, which is 1.5 times more than the same indicator last year, BUCE spokesman Roman Yaniv told a BelTA correspondent.

Oilseed meal is traditionally the most demanded group of goods. They accounted for more than 40% of the total volume of purchases of agricultural products, or Br153.4 million. The growth rate was 139%. Second place was taken by feed additives with a transaction value of Br69 million. Compared to January-April 2020, the sales volume almost doubled in value terms and by 64% in real terms. In third place is raw cow 's MILK , which since 2019, domestic dairies have the opportunity to purchase on the stock exchange. The amount of transactions with this commodity increased by 17%, to Br39.7 million, while physical volumes added 8%. Vegetable oils, MEAT products and cereals were also in high demand among Belarusian agricultural enterprises.

"Currently, the agricultural sector is in a phase of recovery growth, which has a positive effect on the activity of agricultural enterprises on the stock exchange. If we turn to statistics, over the course of four months, the number of transactions in the agricultural products section has almost doubled. The opportunity to purchase raw materials also has a stimulating effect at more favorable prices than on the over-the-counter market due to high competition between suppliers.For example, in January-April, domestic agricultural enterprises and poultry farms saved over Br1.6 million on oilseed meal alone," said Roman Yaniv.

JSC "Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange" was established in 2004. The first auction took place in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. The main function of the exchange is to assist Belarusian enterprises in exporting products and to help foreign companies enter the Belarusian market. The exchange sells metal, timber, agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods of a wide range.
