
Alexey Bogdanov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, said that, according to operational data for seven months from the beginning of 2021, 100% of whey is processed in the country.
Answering questions during the presentation of the top rating of dairy enterprises, he noted that this is the highest figure in the world. Even in the EU, the level of whey processing is 80-90%.
Aleksey Bogdanov said that in Belarus “not a gram of whey is poured into the sewerage system and is not written off according to acts. 98.6% goes to complete processing - to drying. And 1.5%, which is more than 20 thousand tons for the first half of the year, is used to feed calves and sent to power and gas installations. In Russia, in my opinion, 40% or 60% of whey is processed.
Ingredients is a new topic for us, an interesting one. We are discussing it, looking at how it can be implemented. Additional investment in equipment will be required.
Three months ago, we solemnly opened a private company in the Grodno region, which carried out modernization and completely takes all the sour whey that is only in the republic for processing. The new plant began to produce new products - soft cheeses, in particular Ricotta cheese, which is made from whey.
