November 17, Minsk . The agricultural year in Belarus is ending with good results. Minister of Agriculture and Food Sergei Bartosh told reporters about this before the concert dedicated to the Day of Agricultural and Processing Industry Workers, BelTA reports.
“Despite the weather conditions, we are finishing the agricultural year with a good result. For some items, we received a harvest even higher than expected. Due to dry weather, we received less cereal grains and legumes, but we were able to offset this deficiency with corn. This year we threshed more than 2 million tons of corn grain,” emphasized Sergei Bartosh.According to him, the volume of sugar beet production will also reach a good level and amount to 5 million tons. The set goals for this crop will be achieved.
“As for livestock products, based on the results of 9 months, we achieved an increase in profit to the level of the previous year. Today there are indeed price fluctuations in the market, but it is worth noting that they reached their peak in previous years. I think it is too early to sum up the results on the export of agricultural products and raw materials. In general, there is a positive trend in product sales. Over the past two weeks, we have raised the minimum prices for butter three times . In addition, prices for milk powder are rising . At the moment, all types of Belarusian products are in demand on the market," the minister said .
The country's processing enterprises are not reducing production volumes this year. “Russia remains the main importer of our products and takes into account the volumes we produce. In the future we plan to increase export supplies,” concluded Sergei Bartosh.
