Canadians are increasingly saying they want their food to be made in Canada

This is such a strong desire that almost all Canadians (82%) support a government that encourages investment in Canada's agriculture and food industries.

This year, the policy priorities of the Processors Association of Canada (DPAC) are focused on creating an environment that encourages investment and innovation in the Canadian dairy industry now and in the future: addressing the impact of free trade agreements such as CETA, CPTPP and CUSMA; restoring fairness between Canadian retailers and their suppliers; investment in sustainable development. These priorities were announced in the DPAC 2021 Election Priorities document.

Since the September 23 federal election, DPAC has noted with satisfaction that party platforms include commitments to compensate the Canadian dairy sector for the impact of trade agreements. DPAC is also looking forward to working closely with the government and opposition parties to ensure that work on countervailing measures that they have begun so far continues in the next parliament. In addition, DPAC will continue to work with the Federal Secretary of Agriculture and other members of federal/provincial/territorial working groups that are exploring options for creating the transparent collaborative environment needed to maintain a strong food supply chain in Canada.
