A program for genomic selection of dairy cattle has already been launched to improve breeding animals and increase MILK production and quality. During the trip to Belarus , the Stavropol delegation visited a number of basic breeding farms, where each animal has a genetic passport, which ensures accurate prediction of genotyping results.
Sergei Izmalkov said that an action program has been developed with the allocation of budget funds, and the procedure for providing subsidies for animal genotyping has been determined. “After we select a company, we will use the experience of our Belarusian colleagues to carry out similar work in the Stavropol Territory,” explained Sergei Izmalkov.
The project will also involve developments from the National Research Center “Kurchatov Institute”, Stavropol State Agrarian University and other research centers. The project will be implemented on the basis of breeding farms.
In parallel, work is underway to create cooperation with enterprises of the Republic of Belarus for the processing of wool produced in the Stavropol region. In March, a delegation from Belarus consisting of enterprise managers will arrive in the Stavropol Territory , where they will visit breeding wool production farms and a wool washing enterprise.
