The health of Stavropol cows is monitored with the help of chips

Brucellosis is an extremely dangerous disease that can affect not only animals, but also humans. They can become infected by eating dairy products, as well as undercooked and fried MEAT.

At the same time, microbes of the Brucella group are tenacious at low temperatures and can retain their activity for up to six months. For the treatment of livestock, a long period is also needed. Therefore, sick and suspected animals in contact with them are distanced from the main herd and kept separately, applying special subcutaneous chips to them.

They are absolutely safe and do no harm. But the presence of such a "label" allows employees of the veterinary service to track the condition and movement of the patient and the animal suspected of infecting the animal up to admission to the regime meat processing plant.

In addition, the chip eliminates the possibility of unauthorized replacement or removal of the unique identification numbers that are assigned to cattle. Thus, unscrupulous farmers will no longer be able to sell or transport a "marked" cow under the guise of a healthy one.

- Today, over 290 thousand heads of cattle are kept in personal subsidiary farms, peasant (farm) farms and large agricultural enterprises of the region. Since the beginning of 2021, the volume of MILK produced amounted to 289 thousand tons, more than 303 tons of cattle meat were sold, - said Alexei Krisan, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory.

The main ways of spreading brucellosis are the illegal import and movement of individuals, as well as the unauthorized slaughter of infected livestock with the subsequent sale of meat.

1.9 billion rubles will be allocated for dairy cattle breeding this year - Ministry of Agriculture of RUSSIA

- The presence of such a control tool is extremely important for the development of dairy farming. In order to preserve and exaggerate the number of cattle and increase milk production, it is necessary to carefully monitor the HEALTH of the livestock in agricultural organizations of various forms of ownership, especially for recently imported animals, - said Konstantin Potekhin, HEAD of the livestock, fisheries and breeding department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Territory. At the end of 2020, more than 3,000 heads of cattle were chipped in the Stavropol Territory. This work will continue in 2021.
