In March, the average price of chilled and frozen broiler carcasses in the Russian consumer market rose to 165.08 rubles per kilogram, exceeding the February level by 7.2%. Since the beginning of the year, chicken has risen in price by 12.3%, and year-on-year - by 17.3%.

165.08 rubles is the highest price of broiler meat since the beginning of 2019, when chicken has been steadily falling in price. In February 2020, the price of chicken dropped to a minimum of 138.03 rubles per kilogram, after which it gradually increased with fluctuations ranging from 139.65 in September to 145.55 rubles per kilogram in December last year.

A noticeable jump took place in January-February, when a kilogram of chicken meat went up by 6.89 rubles. The difference between the prices of February and March turned out to be more significant - 11.13 rubles.

В марте жители Дальневосточного федерального округа покупали курицу по самой высокой цене — в среднем по 214,49 рубля за килограмм. Самая низкая цена зафиксирована в Приволжском федеральном округе, где килограмм курятины в марте продавался в среднем по 152,86 рубля.

По данным Центра отраслевой экспертизы Россельхозбанка, на долю курицы приходится 44% всего потребления мяса в России (в среднем 34 килограмма на душу населения в год).
