The Yakut breed of cows will be bred in the Batarinsky nasleg of the Megino-Kangalassky ulus - Ministry of Agriculture

Last week, cows of the Yakut breed from the Oymyakonsky and Amginsky uluses were brought to the Batarinsky nasleg of the Megino-Kangalassky ulus, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Yakutia reports. Andrey Turantaev, chief livestock specialist of the State Enterprise Yakutsky Cattle, noted that Yakut cattle are distinguished by endurance, and the herd feels good after the road.

19 heads, including 7 dairy cows, were delivered by three cars to the Өrҩnnөөkh site. Even before the war, the Yakut breed was bred here, so the residents are happy that the Yakut cattle returned to their historical homeland.

The animals were housed in an old barn. 40 tons of hay were prepared for them for the winter. It should be noted that in mid-November of this year another 40 heads of the Yakut breed of cattle will be brought here. By this time, a new frame barn for 100 heads will be completed using sandwich panels. Today, construction work is in full swing, the investor is Navigator + LLC.

This will be the ninth department for the Yakut breed of cows, which will be engaged in its selection. Vasily Zhirkov, a resident of the village of Symakh, has been appointed manager of the department.

Recall that the restoration of the Yakut livestock is one of the basic tasks of the republic's agriculture. To preserve the unique breed of Yakut cows, in 2019, by decree of the head of the republic, Aisen Nikolaev, on the strategic directions for the development of the agro-industrial complex, the Yakut cattle state-owned enterprise was created.

As noted by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Alexander Atlasov, today the enterprise has begun serious steps to preserve and restore the population of Yakut cattle. “The farms that breed Yakut cattle are working and showing good results, new livestock complexes are being built, thereby creating a good basis for the further development of the native Yakut cattle breed,” the minister emphasized.

Over the past 5 years, the livestock of the Yakut breed has increased 1.5 times to 2 thousand heads, of which 760 heads are in gene pool nurseries, 555 are basic farms, 585 are other farms and individual entrepreneurs. Today, Yakut cattle are bred in 20 naslegs in 14 districts of the republic, as well as in Yakutsk. As of October 1 this year. the number of Yakut cattle amounted to 2394 heads, including cows - 804 heads, the offspring amounted to 550 heads. Of the total livestock, the State Enterprise of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) "Yakutsky cattle" contains 983 heads, including 277 cows.

In general, in order to remove this unique breed from the threat of extinction, the Decree of the head of the republic, Aisen Nikolaev, set the task of bringing the number of Yakut cattle to 3 thousand heads by 2024, including breeding stock - up to 1 thousand heads.
