Cooperation in the field of agriculture was discussed at a meeting of the ministers of agriculture of the SCO member states

Agriculture is a strategically important sector in the states of the organization. The Deputy HEAD of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture noted the growth of mutual supplies between countries. In 2023, compared to the previous year, trade turnover between RUSSIA and the SCO countries increased by almost 20%. At the same time, the countries participating in the Cooperation account for more than a third of Russian exports of agricultural products. 

Sergei Levin emphasized that to maintain food security, it is very important to maintain the stability of financial and logistics chains. SCO members have all the necessary capabilities to further strengthen interaction in the agricultural sector and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields of agriculture.

Following the meeting, the heads of delegations approved a program for the development of cooperation in the field of selection and seed production of agricultural crops between the SCO member states. The parties will coordinate interaction within the framework of the implementation of this program through meetings of the ministers of agriculture of the SCO member states, as well as the permanent expert working group of the SCO member states on agricultural issues.
