
An outbreak of bluetongue in Denmark was detected on a farm where cattle (41 head) and sheep (180 head) are kept.
“On 8 August 2024 , a clinical suspicion of bluetongue was reported to the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration. Onea sheep out of 180 died. The animal exhibited symptoms consistent with bluetongue: lesions in the mouth and tongue, increased drooling, and a blue tongue. Another sheep showed nonspecific symptoms of the disease,” the review says.
There are no symptoms of bluetongue in cattle . It is reported that on August 9, the suspicion of the disease was confirmed. Restrictions have been introduced at the enterprise to prevent the spread of the disease.
In France, where foci of bluetongue had previously been identified, four more cases of this disease were registered.
A new outbreak of peste des petits ruminants has been identified in Greece.
New foci of highly pathogenic avian influenza were noted in the USA (15 cases in total: 12 in Colorado, 2 in South Dakota, 1 in Texas) and Portugal (2 cases).
In Bulgaria, one outbreak of equine infectious anemia was recorded.
In Austria, 3 foci of West Nile fever have been identified; the disease was detected in wild crows.
