
The first signals about the death of birds from local residents came after May 1. Now employees of the regional veterinary department, together with representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations , collect and burn the corpses of seagulls. An observation zone has been established within a radius of 15 kilometers around the outbreak, where additional research is being carried out .
According to Andrey Karamyshev, HEAD of the main department of veterinary medicine of the Smolensk region, the introduction of quarantine will not entail the alienation of poultry. Farm owners are advised to transfer it to a free-range content. A poultry farm located in a risk area is taking steps to prevent an outbreak.
