The National Union of Agricultural Insurers has calculated that the total amount of damage from ASF in the Krasnodar Territory has reached 500 million rubles. Over the past 10 years, foci of this zoonosis have been identified every year except 2014 and 2021. Until 2022, the virus affected private farms, but now large commercial farms are suffering from it.
According to the plenipotentiary representative for interaction with farmers, Vyacheslav Legkodukh, it will take at least a year to restore the number of livestock, but the outbreak will not have a significant impact on the regional MEAT market, where pork accounts for approximately 20%. The expert clarified that the total number of pigs in the Krasnodar Territory is about 650 thousand. If 10% is lost, then this is only 2% of the meat counter, that is, the loss will not affect the supply of products.
A series of ASF outbreaks in the Krasnodar region broke out in September. The list of infected people includes Kushchevsky, Bryukhovetsky, Krylovsky, Kalininsky, Starominsky, Kanevsky, Krasnoarmeysky, Leningradsky, Pavlovsky, Timashevsky, Primorsko-Akhtarsky, Tikhoretsky districts, Novorossiysk and a number of individual settlements in the Krasnodar Territory.
