The regional Ministry of Agriculture, together with a Russian company specializing in the industrial production of pork and chicken MEAT, is working on a major project on the recommendation of Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Komi Republic Anton Vinogradov. This Russian meat mega-holding has previously implemented 12 projects on pig-breeding complexes since 2002.
In the Komi Republic it is planned to create a complex with a production capacity of at least 5 thousand sows. A representative of the Russian company reports that with such capacity, the total number of pigs in the complex will reach 150 thousand heads, and the gross production of pork in live weight will be 35 thousand tons.
“For comparison, in the regional JSC Zelenetskaya Poultry Farm at the end of 2023, with 1.6 thousand sows, the total number of pigs was 35 thousand, the gross production of pork in live weight was 8.5 thousand tons,” explains the Ministry of Agriculture of the Komi Republic.
Work is currently underway to determine the territorial location for the production base. The area of land for production areas is at least 12 hectares. Options are being considered in Priluzsky, Sysolsky, Ust-Kulomsky and Ust-Vymsky districts, taking into account the availability of infrastructure and land resources.
This project is of great importance, since in addition to ensuring food security in the region, it will also create up to 550 jobs. Such projects are of strategic importance for the republic, as they contribute to the creation of efficient and competitive industries. Investments in the agricultural sector not only contribute to its development, but also contribute to the development of the region's economy.
