Thanks to breeding work in the region, there is an increase in the number of cows producing more than 10 thousand kilograms of MILK - in 2024 , their number reached 18,455, which is 8,314 more than in 2023. The bulk of these cows belong to the Holstein breed, along with black-and-white, Yaroslavl and Ayrshire. There are 35 organizations with 37 statuses for breeding cattle in the region , including 22 breeding plants and 15 reproducers. By the end of 2024, the total number of cows will exceed 52 thousand, and gross milk production will increase by 6% compared to last year, amounting to almost 500 thousand tons.

Five farms from the Gryazovetsky, Vologda and Mezhdurechensky districts are currently famous for their largest volume of milk production.
