On June 28, 2023, in the Abakan veterinary station of the Republic of Khakassia, when examining a sample of bear MEAT delivered by hunters, larvae of Trichinella, the most dangerous parasitic disease of humans and animals, were found. The bear was shot near the lake "Deer-Turug" of the Todzhinsky kozhuun of the Republic of Tyva.
In connection with the detection of trichinosis, by order of the Veterinary Service of the Republic of Tyva dated June 29, 2023, No. 57-YUD, restrictive measures were established on the territory of the Deer-Turug lake of the Todzhinsky kozhuun of the Republic of Tyva. Infected meat is destroyed by incineration.
Trichinosis is a common disease for animals and humans. Domestic pigs, wild boars, bears, badgers get sick. The causative agent is small thread-like helminths - Trichinella.
The animal becomes infected by eating the meat of another, sick animal, which contains Trichinella larvae. Immediately after the digestion of Trichinella meat, under the action of gastric juice, they are released and after 5-7 days the females release a huge number of tiny larvae, which can only be detected under a microscope. Then they are carried with the flow of lymph and blood throughout the body and settle in the striated muscles, where the larva is encapsulated. In the capsule, the larva can survive up to 30 years.
Trichinella larvae, being in the meat of animals, are highly resistant, withstand boiling for 6 hours, tolerate the effects of table SALT, so they do not die during salting, smoking meat and storing it in refrigerator freezers. That is why the affected carcasses are subject to mandatory destruction.
It is important to know that infection of humans and animals with trichinosis occurs through eaten meat containing invasive trichinella larvae, therefore, when cutting carcasses of harvested animals, it is necessary to dispose of biological waste by burning. Carcasses of wild animals (boars, badgers and bears) are subject to mandatory veterinary and sanitary examination. This will save you and your friends from serious consequences if the meat is affected by trichinella.
In humans, the disease gives complications to the respiratory tract, central nervous and cardiovascular systems. Leads to disability. In rare cases, it also leads to death.
Based on the foregoing and in order to avoid infection with trichinosis, the Office of the ROSSELKHOZNADZOR for the Republics of Khakassia and Tuva and the Kemerovo region - Kuzbass strongly recommends purchasing meat products only in specialized markets and in stores where all products are subjected to a full veterinary and sanitary examination.
