Owners of pigs withdrawn due to ASF in Transbaikalia will be paid 27.6 million rubles

Owners of pigs in Chita and the Chita region will receive compensation in the amount of 27.6 million rubles for the destroyed livestock of these animals. The funds will be directed from the reserve fund of the Trans-Baikal Territory.

 The reason for the destruction of animals was the disease of African swine fever (ASF). The authorities seized a total of 2.5 thousand heads of pigs and 6.8 tons of pork.

 “Payments to farmers in the Trans-Baikal Territory whose farms fell into the threatened zone due to the virus will be paid in full by April 30 this year,” the region’s official portal said in a statement.

 Andrey Lim, HEAD of the state veterinary service of the Trans-Baikal Territory, explained that quarantine measures are to be lifted 30 days after “the last alienation of pigs in the threatened zone.” it will be possible to breed pigs in Chita and the Chita region only one year after the quarantine is lifted.
