Hungary and Russia: New Horizons for Agricultural Cooperation

Hungarian Agriculture Minister Istvan Nagy noted that Hungarian companies are ready to participate in Russia's import substitution program by offering high-quality seeds suitable for a variety of climatic conditions. At a meeting with the Russian ambassador in Budapest, specific steps for seed exports were discussed, including traditional crops, as well as specialized seeds for fruits and vegetables.

In addition, Hungary is ready to offer its expertise in the field of poultry farming, in particular the export of eggs free of specific pathogens, which are crucial for vaccine production and scientific research.

Under current Western sanctions, Hungary is seeking opportunities for cooperation with Russia in areas not affected by the restrictions, and agriculture is one such area. This partnership could strengthen food security in both countries and create new jobs, contributing to economic growth.
