To successfully breed rabbits, it is necessary to take into account several important aspects related to their care and maintenance. These animals regularly groom their fur, so bathing is not required and can even be dangerous. Rabbits are sensitive to stressful situations and loud sounds, which requires attention from their owners. The optimal temperature for their maintenance varies from +10 to +20 degrees Celsius, since they do not tolerate either cold or heat and are afraid of drafts.

It is also important to be attentive to the health of rabbits. Symptoms of diseases can develop quickly, so owners should pay attention to changes in appetite, behavior, condition of fur and mucous membranes. At the first signs of illness, it is worth isolating the rabbit immediately and contacting a veterinarian.

Rabbits need regular vaccination against viral hemorrhagic disease and myxomatosis, which can have serious consequences. Vaccinations are recommended twice a year, preferably in March and September, and the animal's health should be monitored before vaccination.

Rabbits should be fed a balanced diet of mixed feed, vegetables and fresh grass, while avoiding toxic plants. Rabbit care includes keeping the cages clean and disinfecting them regularly.

From September 1, 2024 , new veterinary regulations regarding the keeping of rabbits for breeding will come into force, which will define mandatory requirements for their care, disease prevention and diagnostic tests.
