Seven young Kazakh Whitehead and Hereford cattle were purchased from breeding farms in the Osinsky and Nukutsky districts of the Irkutsk region for selection. The bulls are currently in quarantine. They are being tested for authenticity of origin, possible genetic abnormalities, and breeding value.
According to Ilya Sumarokov, Minister of Agriculture of the Irkutsk Region, the key to the successful development of beef cattle farming is the correct selection of animal breeds capable of adapting to the region's natural and climatic conditions. Bulls raised in the Angara region possess this valuable quality. Three breeds of beef cattle are represented: Hereford, Kazakh Whitehead, and Kalmyk. All are adapted to the harsh climate.
