Coronation Meat, Dairy Sales Expected to Surge in UK

During the Queen's Platinum Jubilee last year, the number of hamburgers sold increased by 50 per cent, with an additional 853,000 kg of MEAT purchased   across the UK during the jubilee week, according to AHDB statistics .

Sausage rolls were also in demand, with sales up 30 percent, followed by a 28 percent increase in pork pies and a 9 percent increase in sausage sales.

The dairy sector also saw an increase in sales, with an additional 724,000 liters of fresh cream sold, up 33 percent from the weekly average in 2022. The cheese segment also saw growth, with an additional 228,000 kg purchased.

“British people love to party, so even special events such as the coronation of a king provide the perfect opportunity to boost sales of both red meat and dairy products,” said Kim Heath, Senior Retail Manager at AHDB.

The coronation also coincides with the return of AHDB's month-long "Love BBQ" campaign, which encourages consumers to fire up their grills and sample delicious and easy pork, beef and lamb barbecue recipes .
