On July 30, a truck with sheep from the city of Tutaev, Yaroslavl region, arrived at the Patriot farm located in the Nizhnyaya Utyatka microdistrict in Kurgan. Three rams and 121 yarks (null-bearing sheep) were on the road for two days.
“We coordinated the route across the country with the department of the Rosselkhoznadzor for the Tver and Yaroslavl regions,” said Andrey Voronkin, head of the Patriot farm. - Yarochki rode in comfortable conditions, with air conditioning. All the way they had access to drinking water. The sheep arrived in excellent condition."
All sheep of the sought-after Romanov breed. It was bred in the 18th century in the peasant farms of the Volga regions of the Yaroslavl province. Local northern short-tailed sheep were selected for their fur coat qualities. The Romanov breed is characterized by multiple pregnancies, the uterus brings up to five lambs at a time. Lambing takes place up to two times a year. The main lambing of the arriving sheep is scheduled for September, after which they will be sheared.
“Wool is in high demand. She is very warm, - Andrey Voronkin notes. – We plan to conclude a contract with Kargapol. We give them wool, and they give us felt boots from it. Can be used as a souvenir.
For the Yaroslavl sheep, the farmer gave about 1.8 million rubles. He intends to increase the livestock to 1.5 thousand and occupy a fairly free niche in the lamb market. So far, only Ivan Bratsev from the Kurtamysh district is among the Trans-Ural competitors.
The head of the Patriot farm shared his plans: “Let's set up our own container slaughterhouse. Demand for mutton exceeds supply, prices are constantly rising. We want to supply lamb to Belarus, Kazakhstan and China. We are also thinking about entering local retail chains, now we are negotiating with Metropolis. We want to sell only chilled water. Lamb is the most fashionable meat at the moment, and it should be eaten chilled.
The goal of the "Patriot" is to obtain the status of a breeding reproducer. Veterinarian Ekaterina Voronkina, wife of Andrei Voronkin, will carefully monitor the birth rate in the flock. Each sheep has an ear tag with an individual number. All individuals with veterinary evidence. Thoroughbred sheep, lines "Elite". Idle ewes are marked with orange paint, that is, not inseminated after beating the lambs from the queens.
By the way, the nearest breeding sheep reproducer is located in Bashkiria. A well-located Kurgan could satisfy the demand for breeding lamb in Siberia and Kazakhstan.
KFH "Patriot" appeared in March of this year. A few employees have been hired so far, more jobs will appear. In addition to sheep, the farm contains pigs, geese, and chickens. It is planned to purchase cows.
“When we decided to buy sheep, we immediately understood that we would start making a profit only after two years. At the same time, it is necessary to pay salaries, to occupy people with something, - Andrey Voronkin said. - We hope to receive a subsidy for the purchase of commercial young animals. If we put this project into action, then we cannot do without the help of the regional government and the state.”
In May-June 2021, lamb prices increased by 14.8% compared to the same period last year. According to EMISS, in June its average price reached a record high for 2.5 years - 485.62 rubles per kilogram.
