Breeding sheep of the Edilbaev breed began in the Tomsk region

For two years, Alexander Tkachev, a farmer in the village of Nadezhda, Tomsk District, purchased 95 sheep of the fat-tailed Edilbaev breed, a hay mower, and a rake using the grant. With the help of a subsidy, I bought a Yenisei combine harvester, a round baler at my own expense, built a sheepfold for 200 heads, and laid a power line.

According to the terms of the grant, the farmer can start selling sheep MEAT when the herd on his farm reaches 300 heads. The first three lambs were born a few days ago; lambing for the rest of the livestock is planned within a month.

“Sheep bring one or two lambs at a time, at the beginning of their life they are very fragile, they need careful care. Our main task today is to keep the young and protect the HEALTH of all young mothers,” said Alexander Tkachev.

The Edilbaevskaya breed of sheep, although it belongs to coarse-haired fat-tailed sheep of the meat-and-fat direction, is also known as dairy - MILK is high in fat content, well suited for the production of sheep cheeses.

The KFH is preparing for sowing. This spring, the farmer plans to sow 80 hectares of arable land with Iren wheat. Another 115 hectares of land, obtained by introducing fallow lands, are still under meadow mowing. With the arrival of warm weather, Alexander Tkachev is going to start building a sheepfold in order to expand the livestock to 400 heads, and in the summer to drill a well.

“The plans for this year include the purchase of the K-701 tractor. A lot of investments have already been made, there is still money to be spent, but it's worth it. I was born and raised in a village, so peasant labor is a familiar thing for me. The main thing is to work, and then there will be a result,” said Alexander Tkachev.
