In connection with the detection of an epizootic focus of African swine fever at the site of the pig-breeding complex of SVK LLC in the Krasnogvardeisky district of the Stavropol Territory, more than 11.5 thousand animals will be destroyed.
An outbreak of ASF at an enterprise located half a kilometer southwest of the district center (the village of Krasnogvardeyskoye) occurred last week, on November 17th. On Monday, November 22, Governor Vladimir Vladimirov signed Decree No. 482-rp "On the organization and conduct of the seizure of animals and livestock products in the Krasnogvardeisky district of the Stavropol Territory."
On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Stavropol Territory Vladimir Sitnikov wrote on his Instagram page that 1.5 thousand pigs will be seized in the exclusion zone from 8,000 private farms and 10 thousand from industrial farms of agricultural enterprises. He promised the owners of household plots that they would pay compensation for each head at the rate of 170 rubles per kilogram (based on the average market price of the sale).
Sitnikov called the alienation procedure a tough but necessary measure that should prevent the spread of the ASF virus outside the outbreak. According to the materials of an emergency meeting of the anti-epizootic commission with the participation of representatives of the administration, specialists from the North Caucasian Interregional Department of Rosselkhoznadzor and the regional department of veterinary medicine, 110 pigs were seized from personal subsidiary plots in the first day, and about 2000 from agricultural enterprises.
Quarantine has been established on the territory of the Krasnogvardeisky District. Veterinarians and law enforcement officers monitor compliance with restrictions on the movement and slaughter of pigs, the movement and sale of products of their processing. In addition to the village of Krasnogvardeyskoye, the villages of Zerkalny, Zernovoy, Kommunar, Medvezhensky, Shturm, the villages of Novomikhailovskoye, Privolnoye and the Bogomolov farm fell into the threatened zone.
The information portal "Notebook-Stavropol" publishes negative feedback from the local population about the depopulation of livestock. The indignation of people pouring out their emotions on social networks is caused by the fact that pigs are alienated from farmers without laboratory tests for the presence of the ASF virus.
