Since April 23, there has been a temporary disruption in the supply of freshly slaughtered pork, as live pigs from Bulan, Indonesia, account for about 15% of Singapore's total pork supply. SFA works closely with the slaughterhouse to disinfect the premises and the environment, and to maintain biosecurity measures at the slaughterhouse.
The SFA requires regions exporting raw pork to Singapore to be ASF free , as raw MEAT from infected pigs is a possible means of transmission for the virus. Processed pork products from approved establishments in ASF affected areas are allowed to be imported and sold provided they have been heat treated to inactivate the ASF virus.
