The creation of a professional association will give an additional impetus to the development of a new livestock industry and the entire agro-industrial complex of the country in the interests of a healthy diet for Russians.
Within the framework of the exhibition “Meat Industry. Chicken King. Cold Industry for the Agroindustrial Complex, leading turkey MEAT producers from different regions of RUSSIA announced the creation of the National Association of Turkey Producers (NAPI).
The founders of the new industry association were Penzamolinvest LLC, PK Ural LLC, Agro-Plus LLC, Askor LLC, Agroindustrial Group BVK JSC and Indyushkin Dvor LLC. Documents for the registration of the Association were accepted by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation.
The purpose of the Association is to unite the efforts of Russian turkey producers and interested organizations in the development of the turkey industry in the interests of providing the population of the Russian Federation with high-quality and affordable turkey meat for a healthy diet, developing the domestic breeding base and strengthening the EXPORT potential of the industry.
In the near future, such large market participants as Krasnobor LLC, Morozovskaya Poultry Farm LLC, Absolut-Plus LLC and a number of regional companies from the Central, North-Western, Volga and Siberian Federal Districts, as well as manufacturers and suppliers will join the Association in the near future. breeding products. Thus, NAPI will account for about 80% of all turkey meat produced in Russia.
In addition, more than 20 Russian and international companies that supply equipment, feed ingredients, veterinary drugs, and other goods and services for turkey breeding have expressed their desire to become associate members of the new industry association.
The Association plans to recruit leading Russian research centers, universities, other industry unions of agricultural producers and processors to implement joint programs for the development of turkey breeding, the poultry meat market and agricultural products in general.
Among the priority tasks of the Association for the near future are the inclusion of turkey meat in the Federal Program "Strengthening Public Health" of the National Project "Demography", the development and creation of regulatory documentation and recipes for turkey products and dishes for public procurement and their inclusion in the diets of state, educational, educational and medical institutions.
The Association also notes that due to the rapid growth of the industry, it became necessary to assign a separate category and codes to the production of turkeys in the classification of products and production activities for the purposes of statistical reporting, as well as to provide measures of state support for its development, primarily to create a reliable domestic base domestic turkey breeding.
Andrey Kovalev, elected president of the Association, said that “in 2020, Russian turkey producers again showed a record growth of 20% for the global turkey sector. Against the backdrop of a continuing decline in imports, the production, export and consumption of turkey meat in Russia are increasing even despite the difficult economic situation and quarantine restrictions.”
“With the deepening of vertical integration (the creation of domestic breeding capacities and deep processing), domestic turkey breeding has already emerged over the twenty years of its existence as a separate branch of the agro-industrial complex of Russia, characterized by dynamic growth and diversification, as well as significant development potential for the next decade,” says the HEAD of NAPI.
Recall that according to the forecasts of the consulting agency "AGRIFOOD Strategies", the volume of turkey meat production in Russia by the end of 2021 can grow by 70 thousand tons (20% compared to the previous one) and reach 400 thousand tons, provided that avian influenza does not spread, and annual consumption turkey meat per Russian will rise to the level of 2.7 kg. At the same time, the potential for domestic consumption is from 4 to 5 kg per capita, which corresponds to the average European and average indicators in countries where the turkey is produced.
The representative of the largest company producing turkey meat in the North Caucasus Federal District "AGRO-PLUS" Tatyana Sheikina is sure that existing projects will continue to develop further along with the possible emergence of new players at the regional level. The reorientation of raw material flows towards finished products and food services, as well as towards exports, will allow the industry to reduce pressure on the retail market of traditional turkey products, maintain its high marginality due to a steady excess of demand over supply.
At the same time, the further development of the industry will largely depend on the expansion of the breeding base and state support in this area to reduce dependence on hatching eggs and one-day-old chicks for commercial herds, the founders of the association noted.
An analysis of the results of the last fifteen years and a long-term forecast for the development of the domestic turkey market confirms the prospect of increasing production volumes to 550,000 tons in 2025 and up to 600,000 tons in 2030, the Association said.
