One of the key achievements of the Russian agro-industrial complex is the complete provision of the country with meat. Meat consumption per capita amounted to 80 kg per year, which is almost twice the world average.

In the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), where livestock farming traditions are the basis of the agricultural sector, this figure is even higher and equals 88 kg. In 2022, meat production increased by 4% and exceeded 40 thousand tons, but the republic's self-sufficiency in meat remains below 28%.

According to the new strategic decree of the local leadership, it is planned to increase production volumes by 1.5 times within five years. In particular, they intend to build modern complexes for keeping 11.5 thousand heads of cattle, as well as expand the area under arable land to increase feed production.

In the third quarter of 2023, the food price index in Yakutia was 104.6% compared to December last year, which is lower than the average for the Far Eastern Federal District (105.3%). Thus, the level of food prices in the republic remains at a relatively stable level.
