The Ministry of Agriculture explains the need to adopt new veterinary rules by the epizootic situation with brucellosis in RUSSIA.
"An analysis of the epizootic situation indicates the need to update and systematize information regarding measures to diagnose, prevent and combat brucellosis," the ministry notes.
In Russia, in 2023, 248 unfavorable points for brucellosis were identified among cattle ( cattle ), 27.2 thousand heads of cattle fell ill with brucellosis. Among small cattle last year, 42 unfavorable points were registered, 1.1 thousand heads fell ill. The economic damage from the incidence of brucellosis in cattle consists of lost offspring (abortions can be registered in 60% of animals), infertility, decreased productivity, and large expenses are spent on quarantine measures. Brucellosis can infect people, and the disease leads to disability (usually due to joint damage) and even death.
it should be noted that in the Privolzhsky District, the administration provides support for citizens who run a private farm in the territory of the municipality. Within the framework of the program, residents who run a private farm can receive: 50% to compensate for costs associated with the vaccination of cattle, and 50% to compensate for costs associated with tagging (chipping) cattle
The new veterinary rules contain requirements for the prevention and diagnosis of the disease, up-to-date data on laboratory tests and diagnostic methods, as well as restrictive measures when brucellosis is detected.
"Dangerous outbreaks of the disease occur periodically in the region, so it is necessary to be very careful when heat-treating MEAT products. Brucellosis persists in MILK for up to 10 days, and can persist in the internal organs, bones, and muscles of dead animals for up to 60 days. In humans, the initial symptoms are similar to those of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections, and it is difficult to initially diagnose the disease," note specialists from the Veterinary Control and Supervision Department of the ROSSELKHOZNADZOR Administration .
