In many respects, the slowdown in inflation is still explained by the statistical base effect - last year's surge in prices has ceased to be taken into account in the calculation of annual inflation.

In April, the supply of certain goods increased in the region and the costs of food producers decreased. At the same time, consumer demand remained moderate. All this kept prices down.

“If we talk about food products, then in April the rise in prices for beef , sausage, MILK and dairy products slowed down.  Egg prices continued to fall  . The fact is that the producers in the regions-suppliers have reduced the cost of feed. Last year, a record harvest of grain was harvested, prices for it were falling. In addition, a number of enterprises have modernized production, which has made it possible to increase the supply of livestock and poultry products,” commented Nadezhda Donskikh, Governor of the Bank of RUSSIA Branch in the Republic of Altai.
