According to the Center for Industry Expertise of the Russian Agricultural Bank, pork was the only type of MEAT whose consumption increased in 2020 and will grow by another 3% by the end of this year.

According to the bank's report, in 2020, pork consumption per capita in our country reached 27 kilograms per year, with a total production of 4.08 million tons. And this is the highest figure in the last 30 years, experts say.

In the first half of 2020, due to an unprecedented increase in meat production in the pig sector, selling prices for pork fell by more than 10% year on year. Retail prices also fell proportionally. Pork, along with chicken, has become the most widely available source of animal protein. Its share in total meat consumption was 36%.

In the second half of the year, its price began to gradually increase, but at the same time remained close to the level of 2019 (within 265.6 - 269.1 rubles per kilogram), but the demand for pork continued to grow. In 2018 and 2019, each inhabitant of RUSSIA accounted for 25.5 kilograms and 26.6 kilograms of pork, respectively.
