In total, over 26 thousand tons of this type of MEAT were produced in the region last year.
The growth in pork production in Primorsky Krai in 2021 amounted to 260% and poultry - 60%, Governor Oleg Kozhemyako said in his report at a meeting on the results of the socio-economic development of Primorsky Krai in 2021. A few years ago, there was no such production in Primorye at all.
"In total, in 2021, more than 26 thousand tons of pork were produced in Primorye - an increase of 260%. We also increased poultry production by 60% over the year. Let me remind you that a couple of years ago, the region did not produce this product in industrial volumes. Plans for 2022 reach 38,000 tons of pork. For poultry, 17,000 tons is an increase of 40%," Kozhemyako said.
He added that the region is actively developing agricultural land, and this year the farmers plan to start producing 1 million tons of grain and soybeans. it is also planned to create new capacities for 150 thousand tons for grain storage.
"All this will significantly strengthen the food security of the region. This became possible thanks to the support of the government of the country and the Ministry for the Development of the Far East in terms of developing the infrastructure of the PDAs," Kozhemyako noted in the report.
As the Minister of Agriculture of Primorsky Krai Andrey Bronts previously reported, farmers in Primorsky Krai have almost quadrupled the number of pigs since 2019 - up to 300 thousand. This growth is due to the development of investment projects in the field of pig breeding. The increase in the number of pigs, according to him, as early as 2022 will cover the needs of the region.
