The source of the outbreak of African swine fever in the Perm region, recorded last week, could be food waste. Farmers took them in the canteen of the Suvorov Military School, said Maxim Tsukanov , deputy HEAD of the State Veterinary Supervision Department of ROSSELKHOZNADZOR .
“On Monday, ASF was confirmed in the Sverdlovsk region, then in the Perm region. Owners of household plots said that they fed pigs with food waste. In the Sverdlovsk region, waste was taken from the canteen of a military unit, in Perm - waste from the canteen of the Suvorov Military School. Food waste could cause ASF infection in pigs,” Tsukanov said. According to him, a carrier company has already been established, supplying food products to both the military unit and the military school.
