Pork prices will rise sharply in the Krasnodar Territory in October

According to data as of early August, the total number of livestock in pig farms in the Krasnodar Territory decreased by 22.7 thousand year-on-year - to 675.4 thousand. The African swine fever virus is spreading from the north, capturing new territories. In epizootic foci and endangered zones of four districts of the Krasnodar Territory, tens of thousands of animals will have to be destroyed. In the near future, the supply of MEAT from companies whose farms have been affected by the outbreak will decrease.

There are more than 10 pig-breeding complexes in the region, so Roman Inozemtsev, a well-known economist in the Southern Federal District with experience in food retail, believes that pork will not completely disappear from the shelves, but will rise significantly in price by mid-autumn and will not return to the previous ratio of 1.25 to chicken soon . The spread of a zoonotic disease that is devastating to the industry has accelerated the spiral of inflation, and pork prices in RUSSIA are rising regardless of ASF .

Chairman of the Association of Peasant Farms, Cooperatives and Other Small Producers of Agricultural Products of the Krasnodar Territory, Alexander Shipulin, added that a crushing blow would fall on farmers who raised pigs for personal use and for sale. Now they are alienating the livestock in which the money was invested , and there will be no revenue. 

Since September 3, ASF quarantine has been introduced in four districts of the Krasnodar Territory: Kushchevsky, Bryukhovetsky, Kalininsky and Timashevsky. Infected offal was found in stores in Krasnodar and Timashevsk.
