In turn, employees of the Office of ROSSELKHOZNADZOR for the Novosibirsk and Tomsk Regions noted that potential risks that could cause the introduction of the ASF pathogen into the territory of our region are the large length of transport routes, including the federal highway and railways, unauthorized transportation of pigs, pig products, feed and feed additives from unfavorable areas, as well as the unauthorized sale of pig products without labeling, without veterinary accompanying documents confirming the well-being of the area where the products are released, and in places not intended for retail trade.
During the training sessions in the village of Acha, where the threat zone was established, special quarantine measures were carried out in accordance with the "Comprehensive plan for the prevention of the introduction and spread of African swine fever in the Novosibirsk region", approved by the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Novosibirsk region - Minister of Agriculture of the Novosibirsk region Evgeny Leshchenko. An important role in this was played by the organization of security and quarantine measures at the entrance to the settlement, as well as practical measures to alienate the pig population and remove feed and pig products, and then destroy biological waste. This allowed the participants to quickly determine the availability and readiness of equipment, disinfection units, equipment, flammable material, disinfectants, sanitary clothing for workers and other necessary conditions for eliminating the outbreak.
The training also allowed the authorized services to practice issues of making management decisions, coherence of actions, forces and means to localize and eliminate the ASF outbreak in accordance with the Veterinary Rules approved by the order of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation dated January 28, 2021 No. 37. At the end of the exercise, an analysis of the full range of measures was carried out and an algorithm of actions was developed to localize and eliminate ASF in the outbreak, threat zone and observation zone.
