In Magnitogorsk, citizens were warned that when buying untested MEAT from their hands, there is a risk of infection with foot and mouth disease. This virus is rapidly spreading among livestock in the Aktobe region of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The city veterinary office said:

- In sick animals, salivation, fever, lameness and loss of appetite are observed. Animals show high fever, weakness. The death of susceptible animals occurs within one to two days.

The virus can live in the body of an animal from six months to a year. Some owners slaughter sick animals and try to sell the contaminated product, bypassing veterinary control. To avoid the spread of infection, minced meat and meat must be bought only at official outlets.
