African swine fever quarantine lifted in Kostroma region

Good news came from the veterinary department: the governor of the Kostroma region, Sergei Sitnikov, has just signed a decree to lift the quarantine for African swine fever (ASF), which was introduced in the Kostroma and Susaninsky districts in December last year. Then the ASF virus was found in the carcasses of two wild boars killed by hunters near the village of Kharino, Kostroma region. After that, in order to prevent further spread of ASF, a ban on hunting was introduced within a radius of 20 kilometers from the place where ASF was detected, and 24 settlements of the Kostroma and Susaninsky regions got into it.

However, according to the Department of Veterinary Medicine, no other cases of ASF have been detected in the Kostroma region over the past two months - and after a set of sanitary measures, all restrictions on the sale of pig products, procurement, import and EXPORT of feed were lifted.

However, the ban on the import and export of pigs will remain for another year.
