As usual, most of these cases occurred in European countries. Of these, the largest number of outbreaks, 247, was registered in Bosnia and Herzegovina. All cases there were noted in the border areas with the Mediterranean countries, as well as Croatia. Second place with a slightly lower number of cases was taken by Romania, where outbreaks were detected on the border with Ukraine and Moldova. In Poland, 213 outbreaks were found, including in the village of Milkow-Kolonia and other settlements in the Lublin Voivodeship, as well as in Opole and on the northern and southern borders, with slightly fewer cases in the east of the country.
Fewer than 200 cases have been reported in several European countries. For example, in Latvia, 127 outbreaks were detected on the border with Lithuania and Estonia. In Croatia, there were 110 such cases near neighboring Bosnia. Less than 100 outbreaks were reported in large regions of Italy (72 outbreaks), Serbia (60), Hungary, Germany and North Macedonia (11 each). Six cases were registered in Ukraine , two in Bulgaria, the same number in the Czech Republic, one in Greece. Of the non-European countries, 75 cases have been identified in the Philippines, six in South Africa, and two each in Malaysia and SOUTH KOREA. In RUSSIA, 21 new outbreaks have been reported.
Recall that African swine fever is a viral disease that kills domestic and wild pigs and wild boars. The latter serve as the main carrier of this disease. Also, other diseased livestock, MEAT and other products can be its sources.their production (including waste), equipment for slaughter, cutting and other procedures, etc. For humans, the disease is still considered harmless. However, scientists do not exclude the emergence of new strains that pose a threat to humans. They refer to similar mutations of the CORONAVIRUS. While there is no official treatment for the disease, there are only standard preventive measures or the slaughter of livestock in case of infection. However, some countries are already close to solving this problem. For example, last year we wrote about the development of an experimental vaccine in Vietnam, CHINA, the United States and the Philippines. In the first of them, a similar drug has already been created. Also Russian scientists have released a fairly effective candidate vaccine strain against the disease and are working to create a real drug. Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko gave an instruction to develop a reliable vaccine until 2024.
