Poultry meat production increased in the Irkutsk region in the first half of 2022

According to the results of work for the six months of 2022, the production of poultry meat at the enterprises of the Irkutsk region increased by 5.5% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 29.7 thousand tons. The number of poultry also increased by 2.7% and amounted to 7,601 thousand heads. Ilya Sumarokov, Minister of Agriculture of the Irkutsk Region, spoke about this during a live broadcast at the site of the Regional Management Center.


Among the regions of the Siberian Federal District, the Angara region ranks fourth in the production of poultry meat in farms of all categories, behind the Novosibirsk and Tomsk regions and the Altai Territory. In terms of poultry population, the Irkutsk region also ranks fourth in the Siberian Federal District.

In 2021, poultry production for slaughter (in live weight) in all categories of farms amounted to 60.6 thousand tons. In the total production of meat of all types, poultry accounts for 39%.

Poultry farming is one of the areas that makes a significant contribution to the economy of the country and the Irkutsk region, including ensuring its food security. There are always high-quality products of local manufacturers on the regional market, - said Ilya Sumarokov.

Currently, five poultry organizations operate in the region, including two poultry farms focused on egg production: SH JSC Belorechenskoye, SPK Okinsky; three meat-oriented poultry farms: Sayansky Broiler LLC, Angarskaya Poultry Farm JSC, Bratsk Poultry Farm LLC. The total volume of poultry meat production at these enterprises in 2021 amounted to 55.4 thousand tons, which is more than in 2020.
