The budget of the Dutch National Animal Farm Elimination Scheme is not enough, says a representative of an independent consulting company for entrepreneurs working in the agricultural sector.
Hall believes that the number of farmers who want to participate in this program is too large. The specialist expects more than 1,000 farmers to register with the scheme, which is expected to open in autumn 2022.
The National Animal Farm Elimination Scheme has given €270 million to dairy farmers and €115 million to pig and poultry farmers. These budgets are too low, Hall said.

“Take the average pig farm, for example. The amount you will receive for it will be approximately €2 million. That is, you can buy about 60 companies. Judging by the companies that have expressed their interest, about 400 companies are very likely to register, ”said Hall.
Recall that after the tightening of environmental policies promoted throughout the European Union, many days of protests by farmers began in the Netherlands, accompanied by clashes with police and arrests. Then these protests were supported by the agrarians of Germany, later - Italy. Farmers are fighting for their livelihoods because, they say, it is impossible to meet tough new environmental regulations and still “keep afloat” by remaining in the industry.
