The joint efforts of the two departments of ROSSELKHOZNADZOR prevented an attempt to import potentially dangerous livestock products to the Middle Urals. More than 3.5 tons of pork were allegedly taken to the Yekaterinburg Zoo.

On the 155th kilometer of the Perm-Yekaterinburg highway in the Suksunsky district, a Hyundai cargo van was stopped. The car transported 3,700 kg of pork in half carcasses without veterinary accompanying documents, without signs of a veterinary and sanitary examination (there were no stamps on the carcasses), without information about the manufacturer of the product, as well as the date of production and expiration dates.

According to the driver, the products were intended for feeding animals in the Yekaterinburg Zoo.

Employees of the Sverdlovsk department of Rosselkhoznadzor promptly requested information from the zoo management, but they assured that no cargo was expected that day.

Thanks to the information received, the car with the cargo was detained at the Syra traffic police post.

Animal carcasses were selected for testing for African swine fever and sent for research to the Perm Veterinary Diagnostic Center: the result is negative.

An administrative protocol was drawn up against the driver.

Last Sunday, low-quality and dangerous products were destroyed in a biothermal pit at a solid waste landfill. Disinfection of vehicles and the territory adjacent to the pit was also carried out.
