Cattle population has decreased in Altai Krai

The number of cows decreased by 7.9% and amounted to 245.3 thousand heads, and the number of pigs decreased by 6.4% to 309.3 thousand heads. There are now 140.9 thousand sheep and goats, which is 6.3% less than before.

In January 2024 , enterprises of all categories produced 18.3 thousand tons of cattle and poultry for slaughter (live weight), 69.6 thousand tons of MILK and 92.4 million eggs.

In January 2024, 13.7 thousand tons of livestock and poultry for slaughter (live weight) were produced in the organizations involved in livestock and poultry breeding, which is 103.8% of the volume of the same period in 2023. Milk production amounted to 47.1 thousand tons (101.2%) and the number of eggs reached 86.1 million pieces (103.5%).

The average milk yield per cow in agricultural organizations (excluding small businesses) was 520 kilograms, which is 105.9% higher than the previous year. The egg production of one chicken is 28 eggs per year. According to Altai Kraistat.
