Top Russian regions by agricultural insurance payments for nine months 2023

The Oryol region became the leader in the volume of insurance compensation, where more than 255 million rubles were paid to farms under contracts with state support. Of this amount, 143 million rubles were compensated for the loss of farm animals, and 112 million rubles were compensated for losses from crop loss .

Farmers of the Stavropol Territory have already received almost 255 million rubles this year. The eastern regions of the region suffered from the spring drought and also faced other risks. Basically, these insurance benefits were intended for plant growers.

“In general, in all regions, a complex of risks of lack of moisture in the soil, including soil, atmospheric drought and dry winds, has become over the past 9 months the main reason for insurance payments to farmers under contracts with state support totaling 410 million rubles. Also, the most significant were the risks of hail and soil waterlogging, the implementation of which led to payments of about 270 million rubles for each of these categories of hazardous phenomena,” said NSA President Korney Bidzhov. 

The Samara region ranks third in terms of the volume of payments under contracts with state support. Agricultural insurers have already transferred 206 million rubles to crop growers in this region.

The Republic of Mordovia and the Perm Territory, located in the Volga region, round out the top five. Farms in these regions received more than 90 million rubles and almost 64 million rubles, respectively. All of these insurance benefits were sent to growers.

Also approaching the top regions in terms of the volume of payments: the Orenburg region, where farms received 63.5 million rubles for crop loss, and the Khabarovsk Territory, where livestock farmers were compensated 60 million rubles for losses. Farmers in the Tula and Lipetsk regions were also paid 49 and 47 million rubles, respectively.

The President of the National Union of Agricultural Insurers noted that among other regions where payments were made to farmers for the first 3 quarters of this year, the Republic of Mari El should be highlighted, where 37 million rubles were paid for the loss of livestock. In addition, the Omsk and Kaliningrad regions became emergency zones due to drought, and in these regions 35.8 and 16.5 million rubles were paid, respectively, for the death of agricultural crops. 

In the Kursk region, losses in the amount of 30 million rubles were compensated, and in the Tambov and Penza regions - 11 and 9 million rubles, respectively, for losses from crop loss.

As Korney Bidzhov noted, by the end of the year an increase in payments to farmers is expected in many regions. The main compensation period has now begun.
