This is the first purchase of such kits used to test livestock for African swine fever (ASF) and foot-and-mouth disease (FMD). These purchases help boost U.S. preparedness to respond to dangerous diseases in foreign animals.
APHIS also announces the availability of a sourcing announcement to be posted for 90 days to collect additional information from interested diagnostic manufacturers and developers on their ability to supply test kits or devices for three major foreign animal diseases: foot-and-mouth disease, ASF and classical swine fever (CSF).
