Average prices for chicken cuttings showed a positive adjustment against the backdrop of rising prices for all items except chicken breast.
Americans will eat 1.45 billion wings as they watch Kansas City and San Francisco battle for the championship trophy, according to a report from the National Poultry Council.
This year's forecast is unchanged from 2023, with the USDA reporting chicken production levels will be slightly lower than last year, and cold storage wing inventories were down 13% in November compared with the previous year. This may explain higher demand and therefore higher wholesale prices for wings - they rose 2.4% last week. At the retail level, prices for fresh chicken wings are down about 5% and prices for frozen wings are down 11% compared to January 2023, according to Circana.
