
Lean pork futures rose 30-55 cents on Friday, while December futures have fallen 90 cents for the week. The USDA National Pork Benchmark Price on Friday afternoon was $75.84, down $2.02 from the previous day. The CME Lean Pork Price Index for November 12 fell another 3 cents to $88.83.
The price of pork carcasses rose again by $1.96 to $97.22 per hundredweight. Only pork chops and hams saw price declines , while the price of hams increased by $7.17. The USDA estimated total hog slaughter for the week at 2.716 million head. This is 88,000 head more than last week due to the large slaughter on Saturday, and 83,820 head more than the same week last year.
